Colourism, the daughter of racism has defined beauty standards in Asia and Africa for a long time. A piece of colonialism and slavery that was left behind, which international companies such as Unilever exploited. Today SLYO Chapter is fighting back.

It was Aritha Wickramasinghe’s petition against Unilever that inspired this discussion. An issue that divides society as well as reduces self esteem in youth of today. The committee wanted to form a discussion to celebrate beautiful brown skin and support future Kings and Queens.
