On January 27th and 28th, the “Sri Lankan Youth

On January 27th and 28th, the “Sri Lankan Youth Organization - Canada Chapter” collaborated with “Canada A Mindful and Kind Nation” for the 4th annual Sharing is Caring Project.

We made 200 care packages which included many essentials such as blankets, socks, gloves, soap, dental hygiene products along with 200+ lunch packages for the less fortunate population in Toronto. We distributed all of the care packages on the streets in downtown. Our goal was to make 200 care packages within two weeks and the event was a huge success thanks to all amazing people who helped and volunteered to make and/or distribute the care packages for the less fortunate. This event was possible in short period thanks to the guidance and support of our Urban Buddhist Monk, Bhante Saranapala, from the West End Buddhist Temple. He provided the platform to make this event a reality while continually instilling the wonderful Buddhist philosophy of kindness.

We also raised other donation items such as blankets, feminine hygiene products, warm clothes, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, and donated them to the local Cawthra Shelter in Mississauga.

A big thank-you for everyone’s generous donations, for volunteering your time, and doing it all with such positivity and warmth. We hope you know that this winter, you made a difference in making someone just a little bit warmer with a care package, with a lunch, and of course with hope!

SLYO Canada is happy to announce that the Sharing

SLYO Canada is happy to announce that the Sharing Is Caringw event will be in-person this year. Please join "Canada: A Mindful and Kind Nation" and "SLYO Canada" this January for our fourth annual care package drive! We plan to prepare 200 care packages for the homeless in downtown Toronto.

Come help us assemble packages on January 27th at 6:30PM at West End Buddhist Temple (3133 Cawthra Rd, Mississauga) and to distribute them on January 28th at 1:00PM at Nathan Philips Square (100 Queen St W, Toronto)

Check out how SLYO Jr Chapter was able to honors MLK Jr today by giving back to the local community. The service project today focused on cleaning up around the White Oak Community Recreation Center! 👏🏾

Our kids were able to find broken glass, plastic bottles and wrappers, while also having a great time. We are so grateful that our kids were able to do an amazing community project while helping our local community
