On July 5th 2020, SLYO held its first virtual career development webinar, Medical Pathway to Success Zoom Meeting. The event consisted of inviting medical students and practicing physicians in various specialties to describe what it is like being and becoming a doctor in the U.S. The COVID-19 pandemic had truly tested the importance of being a health care worker, and this program was to help aspiring students within our community who want to pursue a career in the medical field. The event consisted of interviewing both the medical students and physicians, hosting a Q&A session for the students and concluded with a virtual interactive scavenger hunt session.

It is SLYO’s intention to host similar events in the future that interests various other professions, thereby allowing our students in the community to cultivate aspirations, mentorships, and even networking with professionals in the respective fields.
