Operation Rise Above (ORA) is a much-anticipated annual initiative hosted by SLYO. This year’s iteration of the event (ORA IV), held on the 20th of August in San Fernando, California, was a brilliant success. We distributed over $15,000 of backpacks containing school supplies to underprivileged children, ranging from elementary to high school, from the Boys & Girls Club, San Fernando Valley, LA. We are incredibly grateful to JPMorgan Chase for partnering up with SLYO this year. The event also featured “Encanto” characters and Arts & Crafts projects provided by Shades of Motherhood (S.O.M), which our participants thoroughly enjoyed. We were excited to welcome over thirty (30) hardworking volunteers from SLYO, Chase, S.O.M, and the Boys & Girls Club to help us coordinate the event. They were delighted to receive a delicious lunch sponsored by Jersey Mike’s Subs. SLYO is extremely thankful to The LA Mayor’s Office for their continued support and representation at this event. We are also immensely grateful to Eshan De Silva and Sahan Ganewatte for perfectly capturing the event through excellent photography. We look forward to our next ORA event, and hope that you continue to support and join us in thoughtful community service.
