The donations were distributed to low-income families at the Gramasewaka’s (the admin authority for a particular area on behalf of the government) house. It was with a happy face that a lady of the village spoke on behalf of all the villagers present, and expressed how grateful she was for the dry rations. She mentioned how difficult the times are and wished well towards everyone who helped bring this project together. We thank everyone who donated to make this project possible and is glad to have been of help to people during this economic crisis. Our donations may be just a drop in the ocean but every small drop can make big ripples. We hope you continue to support us with all our future projects and together, let’s make a change in the world. Also special thank you to @iroshachamindi and her team for helping us with this endeavor. We could have not done this without them!!!

In 2013 SLYO LA Chapter sponsored the building of a new library for the Morahena Junior School in Sri Lanka. In order to raise funds for this project, SLYO LA organized and hosted the Summer Love II community event in Los Angeles. The Grand Opening for the library took place on July 26, 2013 and students enjoyed the new space. It provided a new place to learn and to develop their passion for reading.
