SLYO Toronto | Fuzion Night Social 2018

In the summer of 2018, SLYO Toronto organized “Fuzion Night”, a talent show to highlight the diversity and skills of the community. The event included many demonstrations ranging from dances to musical performances. Becoming a leader involves identifying your skills, so the talent show was a great platform for individuals to showcase their unique abilities to others. The committee would like to give special thanks to the dancers of Roosara Dance, the musicians of Api – අපි, to the violinist Daneeta, to the models for the fashion show, to DJ Rividu Mendis (Ace Entertainment), and to Allen’s father for providing the delicious kothu meal. Overall the event was highly successful and everyone had a great time learning about the talents of their peers and friends.

SLYO Toronto | Fall Games Night Social 2017

In the Fall of 2017, the SLYO Toronto Chapter took the leadership to host a fun games night for about twenty-five attendees in the community. Some of the group activities included a hula hoop competition, relay race, and balia dance session. The games night created lasting memories by creating new connections between individuals and developing a sense of belonging. Team finished the night with a baila dance session! Thank you the SLYO committee and to those that attended for making this another successful event for SLYO Toronto.

SLYO Toronto | ft. Puthala – Summer Sports Day Social 2017

The SLYO Toronto Summer Sports Day Social Event was a fun sports-filled event that enabled guests to make new friends while developing their athletic abilities. The event had a large turnout of over 50 people and they played activities such as beach volleyball, beach soccer, cricket, badminton, and frisbee. SLYO also had a delicious barbeque meal and ended the night around a bonfire with smores. SLYO- LA members were able to join The SLYO Toronto Sports Day Event making it a day and night to remember.

SLYO Toronto | Feed the Homeless 2015

In 2015 SLYO Toronto showed their leadership by organizing a successful Feed the Homeless event. The team prepared 100 sandwiches and distributed them to homeless members of the community. The SLYO team would like to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks towards their volunteers and to those that donated food items. Food is an essential human right and SLYO was happy to have helped the less fortunate obtain access to it.

SLYO Toronto | Elixir Pub Night Fundraiser for 2015

SLYO Toronto would like to thank all who attended the Elixir Pub Night Fundraiser. The committee took the initiative to organize a fun Pub Night to support an important unmet need in the community. The funds raised from this event went to support the building of a playground for the children of Mawathura Kanishta Vidyalya school, in Gampola, Sri Lanka. The Pub Night had an amazing turnout and attendees enjoyed socializing and dancing.

The 2014 Feed the Homeless event organized by SLYO Toronto was another successful accomplishment. The team along with volunteers took the leadership to walk the streets of Downtown Toronto, and provide a comforting meal to the homeless. A special thank you goes to Raj P, Raj W, Aruni G, SLYT, and TSLSA for helping to make this event possible.

SLYO Toronto | Support Good Shepherd Homeless Shelter Event

On August 14,2014, the team of SLYO Toronto along with volunteers, showed their leadership and interest in community involvement, by volunteering at Good Shepherd ministries to help clean rooms, sort materials, and prepare beds for guests. These activities fostered a sense of community and were an important step to help create homes for those in need. The committee would like to thank Mark Christy and his assistant for their support in this activity.
